ITAD Data Sanitization & Storage Device Destruction

Protecting client data from exposure in the secondary market is a core priority for SLS. We provide secure data sanitization and storage device destruction services designed to meet enterprise governance and risk management requirements.

SLS supports multiple data protection methods, including data erasure using OEM BIOS tools and industry-recognized third-party solutions such as Blanco and White Canyon, performed in accordance with DoD data sanitization standards. Where required, we also offer physical removal of storage media, degaussing, certified destruction, or secure return of drives.

For every device processed, SLS provides detailed records including device and storage media serial numbers, along with Certificates of Data Destruction, ensuring full auditability and compliance.

Go-To-Market Sales Strategies

Each surplus disposition project carries unique considerations that must be addressed before introducing assets to the secondary market. SLS evaluates a comprehensive set of criteria—including asset type, brand, configuration, age, market timing, pricing objectives, and applicable export restrictions—when developing the appropriate sales approach.

Once project criteria are clearly defined, SLS selects and executes the most effective go-to-market strategy to align with client expectations and recovery objectives. Depending on the asset profile and risk tolerance, SLS may deploy a single method or a hybrid approach, including:

  • Outright Purchase
SLS purchases the inventory directly and assumes all resale risk and associated costs.
  • Timed Best-and-Final Events
SLS promotes the project to qualified buyers and manages a structured offer process to maximize competitive pricing.
  • Third-Party Online Auction Platforms
Assets are marketed through established auction platforms using controlled sale parameters designed to protect minimum value thresholds.

Competitive and Aligned Fee Structure

SLS operates on a leveraged, scalable infrastructure model designed to control costs while maintaining enterprise-level service quality. Our operations are supported through a shared-services 25,000-square-foot facility, enabling efficient execution without unnecessary overhead.

Resources are deployed on an as-needed basis, allowing SLS to remain flexible and cost-efficient while delivering white-glove and technical services. This operating model allows us to offer competitive pricing without compromising service or control.

In most engagements, applicable service fees are deducted from the proceeds generated upon resale of assets. As a result, clients typically incur no upfront costs, and fees are fully aligned with transaction outcomes.

Terms & Conditions

All assets sold by SLS are transacted on an “As-Is, Where-Is” basis, with no implied warranties and no refunds once the assets have departed SLS facilities or the client’s possession.

Surplus assets are typically sold under EX WORKS (EXW) terms. Under this structure, assets are prepared for release by SLS and/or the seller, while the buyer assumes responsibility for removal, transportation, and compliance with all applicable export and regulatory requirements.

Buyers are generally provided a 14-day audit and validation period to review inventory and report any material discrepancies for potential resolution, in accordance with the applicable sale terms.
